Types of facials and their benefits

There are many facials to choose from. These facials include Oxygen-, Hydrafacial-, Galvanic-, and Platelet Rich Plasma. These are all great options to fight aging.

Hydrafacial

Hydrafacial is a non-surgical, safe and effective skin care treatment. This facial utilizes innovative technology to improve the health and appearance of your skin.

The hydrafacial treatment works in the same way as a chemical peel but is completely painless. This treatment does not involve harsh chemicals on the skin but focuses more on cleaning and exfoliating. It promotes skin renewal, which results in a glowing, younger-looking complexion.

A certified aesthetician, or licensed dermatologist, performs the procedure by using a wand. The wand simultaneously removes dead skin cells and exfoliates them.

Facial mask

There are different kinds of masks (e.g., clay, cactus, cucumber) for different purposes: deep-cleansing, by penetrating the pores; healing acne scars or hyper-pigmentation; brightening, for a gradual illumination of the skin tone. Facial masks also help with anti-aging, acne, crows feet, under eye bags, sagging lids, dark circles, puffiness,[1] and more. Some masks are designed to dry or solidify on the face, almost like plaster; others just remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, healing, or refreshing; they may yield temporary benefits (depending on environmental, dietary, and other skincare factors). There is little to no objective evidence that there are any long-term benefits to the various available facial treatments.[2]

Masks are removed by either rinsing the face with water, wiping off with a damp cloth, or peeling off of the face. Duration for wearing a mask varies with the type of mask, and manufacturer's usage instructions. The time can range from a few minutes to overnight. Those with sensitive skin are advised to first test out the mask on a small portion of the skin, in order to check for any irritations. Some facial masks are not suited to frequent use. A glycolic mask should not be used more frequently than once a month to avoid the risk of burning the skin.

Masks can be found anywhere from drugstores to department stores and can vary in consistency and form. Setting masks include: clay, which is a thicker consistency, and will draw out impurities (and sometimes, natural oils, too) from the pores; a cream, which stays damp to hydrate the skin; sheet-style, in which a paper mask is dampened with liquid to tone and moisturize the skin; and lastly, a hybrid/clay and cream form that includes small beads for removing dead surface skin cells. Non-setting facial masks include warm oil and paraffin wax masks. These different forms are made to suit different skin types (e.g., oily or dry), and different skincare goals or needs (e.g., moisturizing, cleansing, exfoliating). Clay and mud masks suit oily and some "combination" skin types, while cream-based masks tend to suit dry and sensitive skin types. There are also peel-off masks which are great for when you need to remove thin layers of dead skin cells and dirt.[3]

An oxygen facial is a quick and noticeable skincare treatment. It's a great way for your skin to look younger and healthier. It's also an excellent option for those looking to reduce wrinkles.

To get the best out of your oxygen facial, follow it up by an antioxidant rich serum. This will increase your cell turnover process, and reduce the appearance and severity of wrinkles.

A special cream is used to apply the cream to the skin. Then, it is sprayed using highly concentrated oxygen molecules. Similar to microdermabrasion with oxygen as the active ingredient, this process is also known as microdermabrasion.

The oxygen-infused skincare will give your skin a boost in collagen production. It is ideal for people with dry or dehydrated skin.

Galvanic Facials are safe for all skin types. Galvanic facials work by eliminating toxins from deep skin layers, restoring pH balance and stimulating the growth of new cells. It is also very effective at absorbing excess sebum and oiliness.

It is safe and painless. It can be done at the salon, in a spa, or at home. It's recommended for all skin types and especially those with sensitive or dry skin.

Galvanic facials have an advantage in that they are easy to extract. Because the products are pushed deeper into skin, it's easier to get rid of clogged pores or dirt. This treatment is great for those who want to eliminate blemishes, impurities and other skin problems.

Platelet-rich plasma facial

The non-surgical PRP facial is a great way to improve your skin texture. It can be used to treat scarring from acne and wrinkles. This treatment is popular among athletes and those who wish to appear younger and boost their self-esteem.

To speed up healing and to repair damaged tissue, PRP can be used in orthopedic surgery. It is being evaluated in dermatology for hair fall and wound healing.

Platelets are injected into the skin to produce growth factors which accelerate healing and collagen production. Patients are generally satisfied with the results, even though the effects may not last for long.

Recently, this treatment has gained a lot more attention. This is an innovative way to heal your skin faster. A member of the medical team will draw blood samples and then use a centrifuge for the separation of the platelets and red blood cells. The platelets are then concentrated to form a platelet rich plasma.

High levels of growth factors are proteins that accelerate healing. They also have natural healing abilities. This high concentration of growth factors will accelerate the healing process.

To stimulate new tissue growth, platelet-rich plasma can be applied to freshly resurfaced skin. These treatments are noninvasive and safer than more invasive surgical procedures.

PRP facials take time to reveal their results. Most patients will notice a significant improvement in their skin texture after the treatment. Some patients might experience slight bruising near the injection site. The majority of patients can return to their daily lives the next day.

Anti-aging facial

Anti-aging facials can help you look younger and healthier. They address common signs of aging like wrinkles, loss in elasticity, and uneven skin tone. They can address any skin problems, such as blemishes.

There are many options for anti-aging facials. Anti-aging facials that contain vitamin C and antioxidants are the most effective. Also, facials can incorporate massage and chemical peels. Firming serums, which can be used to reduce the appearance and lines of wrinkles, are also available.

Your skin starts to lose its elasticity as you age and you begin to see fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. A skin treatment that is rich in antioxidants will help to restore firmness and clarity.

Do your research before you decide to get an anti-aging facial. You can get advice from a qualified skincare professional about the best processes for you. Even better, ask your friends to recommend local spas.

It is important to select the right anti-aging treatment for you. You have two options depending on how much you are able to afford: you can opt for a weekly treatment or an at-home one.

A facial anti-aging facial is a great way for you to relax, release stress, and celebrate your individuality. It will leave your skin feeling fresh and radiant.

There are many different types of anti aging facials. Each one will work for you. Facials that contain vitamin C, retinoids, and botanical extracts are some of the most popular. A thermal energy facial is also available. This treatment uses suction and abrasion to remove impurities and create fibrotic collagen.

Frequently Asked Questions

A facial is one of the oldest treatments in the world for good reason – the results of this treatment can last for several weeks and enhance the tone, texture, and overall appearance of your skin. Usually, the results of the facial will last for about four to six weeks for most skin types.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
