What are treatment options? It depends on what area is being treated. It is common to apply a numbing agent to the area around 20 minutes prior the procedure. You may experience minimal discomfort as well as pain during the procedure. Local anesthesia and numbing cream will be used to treat areas that require more intensive treatment. We recommend that you visit the office within 24 hours to complete treatment. The treatment involves inserting an insulated needle in the fat pad or wrinkle to treat acne. Radio frequency is used to trigger the right number of pulses for each area.
What is recovery like? There may be some swelling, redness and bruising in the first week. You may feel numbness for as long as four weeks after deeper treatments. When will I see results? The treated area may look worse in the initial recovery period. This is normal. Over the following weeks or months, you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin. New collagen forms, and the skin tightens. This allows you to remold your structure to achieve the desired look. While it is possible achieve the maximum results with only one treatment, there are not always simple procedures. The best result may require more than one treatment.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
Medical spas, sometimes referred to as medi-spas or medspas, seek to combine some medical procedures normally performed in a doctor's office with the experience of a day spa. There is a particular focus on anti-aging treatments.
Dr. Margolin explains aging skin like a piece of paper. “If you take a piece of paper and fold it in different ways repeatedly for decades, the paper would have permanent creases. This is what happens to our skin!” Injectable treatments like BOTOX and JUVEDERM can temporarily reduce aging signs by relaxing facial muscles and filling in certain areas.
