This mansion is a sprawling, late 19th-century estate with period furnishings and artwork. You can arrange tours by appointment. For history buffs, this mansion should be a must-see. You will also find special events such a black tie gala.
The Wyeth - Tootle Manor, at 11th and Charles sts., is a historical mansion. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion includes three floors and one tower. The house contains more than 40 rooms. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. You can experience life in the late 19th-century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was involved in the Waterways League of America as well as the American Museum of Natural History. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
