Historic mansion, the Wyeth-Tootle Manor is located at 11th & Charles sts. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion consists of three floors and a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. It is possible to see what it was like living in the 19th century. Near downtown St. Joseph, Missouri is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. He was also the president of St. Joseph Hardware Company which he owned and managed.
