The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They gathered ideas from their European travels and built the mansion in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. The house is home to more than 40 rooms. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. Near downtown St. Joseph, Missouri is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was active in the city’s manufacturing and arts industries. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also a member, among others, of the Wyeth Duck Club and St. Joseph Duck Club. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
