This sprawling mansion from the late 19th century features antique furnishings and art. By appointment, tours can be taken. The mansion is worth a visit for history buffs. The mansion hosts special events such as a black-tie gala.
The Wyeth - Tootle Manor, at 11th and Charles sts., is a historical mansion. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived here until 1887, when the property was sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. Near downtown St. Joseph, Missouri is the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was involved in the city's manufacturing and art industries. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
