Historic mansion, the Wyeth-Tootle Manor is located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth constructed it in 1879. The Gothic design was created by Eckel and Mann Architects. The family's European travels led to many ideas for the mansion that was built in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion includes three floors and one tower. The house is home to more than 40 rooms. Beautiful woodwork, hand-painted ceilings and imported stained windows are all part of the interior. It is possible to see what it was like living in the 19th century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was active in the city’s manufacturing and arts industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also a member, among others, of the Wyeth Duck Club and St. Joseph Duck Club. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
