This sprawling mansion from the late 19th century features antique furnishings and art. On request, tours are offered. For history lovers, the mansion is a must see. The mansion hosts special events such as a black-tie gala.
The Wyeth - Tootle Manor at 11th & Charles sts is a historic home. Built in 1879 by William M. Wyeth, it was designed by Mann Architects in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork, imported stained glass, and hand-painted ceilings are just a few of the features found in the interior. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was involved in the city's manufacturing and art industries. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
