Wyeth-Tootle Mansion.
The mansion, which dates back to the late 19th-century, is filled with period furniture and art. On request, tours are offered. History buffs should visit the mansion. The mansion hosts special events such as a black-tie gala.
The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They gathered ideas from their European travels and built the mansion in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. The house contains more than 40 rooms. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. The Wyeths-Tootle Mansion, located in downtown St. Joseph is a great place to visit. Huston Wyeth was a well-known businessman and held many positions within the city. He was active in the city’s manufacturing and arts industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved in the Waterways League of America, and the American Museum of Natural History. He was also a member the St. Joseph Duck Club, the Wyeth Duck Club, the Audubon Society, and the St. Joseph Duck Club. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
