This sprawling mansion from the late 19th century features antique furnishings and art. On request, tours are offered. For history buffs, this mansion should be a must-see. Special events include a black tie gala and other special events.
The Wyeth - Tootle Manor at 11th & Charles sts is a historic home. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth was a well-known businessman and held many positions within the city. He was involved in the city's manufacturing and art industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved in the Waterways League of America, and the American Museum of Natural History. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also the president and founder of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
