The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived there until 1887 when it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion is found in St. Joseph, Missouri. Huston Wyeth was a well-known businessman and held many positions within the city. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was involved in the Waterways League of America as well as the American Museum of Natural History. He was also a member and past president of the Wyeth Duck Club (St. Joseph Duck Club) and the Audubon Society (St. Joseph Duck Club). He was also the president and founder of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
